Biblical Egyptology Lesson Response 3.3

3.3 response

The utilization of differing sources as referent material in analysis of history is a valid utility for establishing patterns and evaluation of theory. The utilization or excavations and artifacts as a supporting factor in evaluation of historical theories and is of vital importance. Those artifacts that include inscriptions and support theoretical assumptions about history provide a tangibility and cohesion to theories. Theories are not always supported in tangible artifact however, but this does not diminish the utilization of historical writings of differing sources as a supporting evidence. Utilizing cultural referent, artifact, and hermeneutics of writing often lends credibility to further the claims of authors . As with everything in scientific discovery , especially historical discovery, there can always exist missing pieces, but the more pieces that can be evaluated and added to the historical record the more significant the validity of the theory.

The understanding of writing based in other referent, and an immersed social-cultural and personal referent often more accurately defines the characteristics and motivation of the author. These tend to add credibility to the details, however these things are more difficult to ascertain and apply to theory. The understanding of these features of writings(hermeneutics) often depend upon artifact and excavation of relics and living areas for accurate knowledge. However, lacking artifact does not diminish the writings as a point of reference, the discover of artifacts more enhances the writing and subsequently yields a more accurate picture with stronger tangible evidence.
