Spiritual Leadership

MASTER OF SPIRITUAL LEADERSHIP  Lesson #6

                                  RIGHT SPEECH

This Lesson #6 teaches about Right Speech.  The Author says that the heart of Right Speech is; "How you use your words;  to destroy or build?"  I have to be aware of whether my conversation is Negative or Gossipy because Negativity creates Barriers.  The Author says that if i focus on Right Intention , then Right Action will automatically follow as the outcome.  In this lesson the Author gave me an exercise;  it's called; "Soul Work", I have to write a small, or large piece, about a Hero of mine.  Just "Free Fall" write it in a narrative mode whatever comes out.

This is what i wrote:

The Rev. Dr. Martin Luther King Jr., has been my Hero since childhood.  I can remember  watching the television seeing those black folks being persecuted, dogs being put on them, water hoses spraying on them, being hit with police clubs being beaten in the streets.  In the mist of it all, I remember this black man  who spoke out against this brutality, he formed a "Non Violence" movement.  He was brave, and a Minister of
the Lord.  He stood for freedom and justice, and for the rights of blacks, and the hope that we'll all join hands in  brotherhood one day, and sing the old negroid spiritual, "Free At Last" living in peace and harmony with the White man.

What occurred to me most importantly also was the fact that he didn't have to do what he had done, stood up for the people.  He already had a life of his own in progress and lived far away from where this was happening.  He was chosen and asked by someone to take on the position he had taken on.

Instead, he gave up his life in progress from what he had planned, to become a Civil Rights Leader in the South.  He took all of his focus away from Self, and turned toward Love for Humanity.  Since MLK JR.,  I've had none other Hero than Jesus Christ.  He also did not volunteer to be put into the shoes he walked in.

This is the Right Speech that I will speak also; Love your Brother and Pray for those who spitefully use you, the speech that says; it's not about me, it's about you.
                                       PBUH/ W/THE LOVE OF GOD.

Spiritual Leadership

My Rule of Life Ministry
Using the gifts that the Holy Spirit has bestowed upon me, I will discern what my purpose is in the Universe through prayer and meditation. I will take into account the needs of my community and bring forth my skills, compassion, Love and knowledge as a representative of the church.
My lifetime ministry will be centered on Gods calling, Universal Wisdom and information gleaned from Spirit.
I will:
  1. My response to the Love of the Divine is an overflowing of this love to an extent that I can’t help but share it with all.
  2. I will leave the people I meet with, with an extra spring in their step and a smile on their face, because this is what has been done for me by the Great Spirit.
  3. Practice daily self-examination with morning meditation and nightly review.
  4. Maintain personal contact with the Divine through meditation, intercession, thanksgiving, creative arts, writing, eating well and exercising regularly.  I will send Universal Energy, for wisdom, health and joy daily to my community, our leaders, our Guides on the Other Side, and all those seeking to connect with their own Blessed Higher Selves. Through these acts of pure Love, I will seek to know where I am meant to be and how to serve.
  5. I am called to share the Love and joy of the Great Spirit with my fellow man. Break down the traditional Christian concept of guilt, and empower people to know that they are here to enjoy this gift of life, and not mourn it by keeping to the dogma of self deprivation. I will commit to live my life as an example of this incredible source of Love, by meeting all of my responsibilities and still thoroughly enjoying life. I will abide by mans laws, and teach others to do the same, while simultaneously appreciating the beauty in everything.
  6. Daily study of Spiritual material and meditation on new concepts to integrate them into my own Spirit for the betterment of myself and my community.
  7. Aside from my morning meditations and nightly review, I keep in constant contact with the Divine through the beauty of nature. Walks in the woods, wading in the creek, vegetable and herb gardening, preparing natural medicines, and feeling the sun on my skin.
  8. I live simply by eliminating excessive possessions, answering the call for need when it is made, not envying or competing with my neighbour, and sharing the blessings the Universe has granted me with those who I am led by the Holy Spirit to help.
  9. I will practice Universal Love and compassion in the workplace. I will be a beacon of the truth that we are loved and Heaven is not ashamed of us. Ever.
  10. I will follow the leading of the Holy Spirit as it communicates with me. I will put only natural food into my body that the creator of all has provided for me. By feeding my body the things it can recognize and assimilate from nature, I will maintain my ability to stay sharp and focused on my connection to the Divine. I will share these concepts and that we are to claim the Love and joy of our Creator as our very own, in order to live a full and healthy life.

Spiritual Leadership

My Letter of Encouragement to My Community
Dear Visitors,

I call you visitors because that’s what you all are. You are all here for a brief time, to learn lessons about relationships. Think of it like summer camp. You send your children to camp so they can meet children from other towns and other cultures in an effort to gain relationship skills that will serve them when they come home. The Divine has this in mind for you, too. Gather information from this life that will serve you in the next and beyond. You have all been here before, with many of the same people that you are surrounded by now, so that you may learn lessons of Love and respect. You will clear away old Karma with each lesson you learn and each relationship you heal. It is by these acts that you will move closer and closer to communion with the Divine.

May it empower you to know that the Love of the Divine is with you always, that you cannot lose it, it will not be taken from you, and it will never cease to exist. You cannot sin against the Divine. You have been sent here to make mistakes for the betterment of your Blessed Higher selves, and that cannot happen if you sit on your hands. Go forth and experience all that there is experience, safe in the knowledge that you cannot get it wrong.

Meditate and give thanks daily and reflect upon the wonders of nature. The Divine will be found in everything around you and is in constant communication with you through all things and events. Become a good listener. Tune in to the voice of the Great Spirit and you will know that what I have said is true.

The world is full of wonders, love and joy. Seek these things and you cannot miss them.
Rev. Bonnie MacDade

Historical Jesus Course

Final Essay for the Master of The Historical Jesus Course
Rev. Sharon J. Mayer
While taking this course I used the information given by Dr. Morris as well as other sources that will be listed at the end of this essay. This essay in no way defines my beliefs or thoughts about Jesus. I took the course for a purely historical study of Jesus. I wanted to objectively look at all information positive or negative as I took the course. I decided the best was to use the ideas of a forensic investigator and go piece by piece through the information given.

Finding the historical record of Jesus is rather like doing a jigsaw puzzle where all the pieces are one color and the same shape. For all the information on what people perceive to be facts about Jesus it is very hard to pinpoint information that has not been tainted by adjenda to promote the church, a program, or to enhance belief structures. In some cases the stories were given a local flare to attract followers.

The main source of information is contained in the canonical four gospels Matthew, Mark, Luke and John. Matthew and Mark having been taken from the same writings as Luke as well as a writing that is called “Q” from the German work quelle – source.  No one is certain who composed “Q” and it is thought the gospels were named for persons to enhance the information given rather then by the persons named. There are also source writings listed as “L”.  The Gospel of John was written much later. There are no early writings about Jesus and as with any orally transmitted information the stories changed with telling over the years. The gospels themselves were not written until many years after the events and taken from oral stories and remembrances that may or may not be complete or true. Many followers repeated what they heard, or thought they heard from followers who had heard the stories from others.

There are several other writings that were not incorporated into the known Bible that are sources to look at.  These noncanonical gospels were written in the second to eighth century. There are about a dozen and it is thought they were pseudonymous, claiming to be written by the apostles, disciples or Jesus’ bother James or Mary Magdalene. All the books appear to be forged.  It was felt they either did not conform to the teachings of the church or they contained inaccurate information.

When looking at other writings outside the Christian faith it is noted that very little was written about Jesus. The Pagan scholars did not write of him during the time of his life or soon after his death. The Jewish scribes did not write about him either. He is mentioned in Josephus’ history of the Jews but even that may have been tainted when Josephus’ writing were in the hands of Rome and parts were added as Rome embraced the Christian Faith. Here and there on finds a few words or a question in a letter but no great amount of writing for a person who was to be known as the Son of God or part of the Trinity.

It is know, from what little writing that has been found and from oral tradition that Jesus was born in the northern province of Bethany and his mother was Mary. His father was a carpenter or tradesman and there were more children in the family than Jesus. we don’t know much about his childhood from the gospels but there are some writings outside these texts that tell about him but there is no way to check them for truth and many of the stories seem to be a way of making Jesus sound more supernatural or to make him greater in the eyes of the person hearing or reading the story. In some of the writings it reminds one of the story of Washington and the cherry tree written by Parson Weems.

There are several ways that historical scholars decide if information passes the test to be considered a reliable source. There is the Criteria of Independent Attestation: Multiple sources for the same information. Criteria of Dissimilarity: When there are dissimilar sayings from early church teachings. Criteria of Coherence: When sayings and events remain the same from story to story. Criteria of Language and Environment: Where the words would not have been used and do not fit or the event could not have happened in the time or place noted. Criteria of Embarrassment: If the saying was against church policy and would be an embarrassment.

Another form of usable information is if it would not be something that church would use to promote a tenant of faith, multiple things that are published and contain the same information. Taking into consideration that Matthew and Luke were copied from Mark when the information remains the same it can be used to prove the information. There is also the book of The Coptic Gospel of Thomas that was from at Nag Hammadi in 1945 and is the only complete book found. Although it only contains says of Jesus it can be used to verify what Jesus may have said.

There are so many “faces” of Jesus that one is not sure what to believe. Was he just a local prophet that was preaching to the neighbors? He preached a prevalent ideal of the time and one that John the Baptist also preached the apocalyptic idea that the time was near for God to send someone to rule the earth and that were would be turmoil before this happened. He never directly stated he was that person and used the known form of the Son of God being understood by the Jews of the times. Some thought he was to take over the land and dispose of the Romans in a mighty battle. Although the Romans were no harder on the Jewish peoples than others they had conquered, the people where tired of being ruled by others and wanted to see someone come and defeat the Romans. He isn’t seen to have followed or been a member of any of the four groups of Jewish people at the time although some of the ideas he put forth were followed by some. This makes it very hard to pinpoint his true belief. If you read the different gospels there is no direct information of exactly who he was.

Even his death is under question. Was he crucified although it was a Jewish tenet that anyone hung on a tree (cross) was to be condemned? Was he laid to rest in a tomb? Did his rise from the dead. Or was he just stunned by the events of his beating and/or given drugs to make him appear dead and later removed from the tomb and met with the disciples before leaving the area to go to India or France? There seem to be stories that either of these might have happened. Again, we have no proof.

The ideas that were fostered and gave way to the Christina religion were promoted best by Paul. He was rather like the Carl Rove of the ancient world when it came to promoting the church. Having been a nonbeliever it is said he had a conversion experience and saw the risen Christ and realized he had wronged people and should make amends by preaching the gospel of the risen Christ. He also wrote in militant terms and this helped when Constantine become a Christian while conquering the known world.

While new information is forthcoming and items are being found we may never really know, in a historical sense, who the son of a carpenter and young mother was or why he came to be such a force in the world.

Spiritual Leadership

            Master of Spiritual Leadership

Lesson 2 Eight Fold Path Part 1

Right View

Refer to the first part of the wisdom in the Noble Eightfold Path but in fact all the parts are interlocked together
Right view come from the mind it begin with the intuitive insight that all beings are subject to suffering and it ends with complete understanding of the true nature of all things
Our view of the world forms our thoughts and our actions
Right view yield right thoughts and right actions
Right view for me is everything coming from the mind starting with the physical aspect of everything
Right view is perceive first with eyes sense mind it is the cognitive aspect of the wisdom

Right Intention

Mental energy that controls our actions It is more as a commitment to ethical and mental self improvement
       3 types of right intention
          - Intention of renunciation
(resistance to the pull of desire)
          - Intention of good will
(resistance to feeling of anger and aversion)
          - Intention of harmlessness
(not to see or act cruelly violently develop compassion)
Right intention for me is more at the heart center
Right View and Right Intention goes well together you can think of the heart and the mind working toward the perfect wisdom

   Ethnical Conduct

For Buddha is the alignment with the truth
The guide line to the moral discipline
There are 4 parts in the ethical conduct
               Right speech
               Right action
               Right livelihood
               Right effort

 My Core Beliefs

            Love
           Gratitude
           Faith
           Compassion
           Wisdom
            Service

(not a special order all are working together in perfect synergy)

I Believe Love is everything and everywhere
 Because I believe in Love
I will make my life a masterpiece for other and I

I Believe Gratitude is a daily task
Because I believe gratitude is the first thing and the last I do

You’ve been doing what your belief statement say?
Why ? or Why not?

This is an on going process and every day I live happily toward these goals, these gifts
Some time better than others but I always do my best to follow these life principles that I choose
With these goals in my mind and in my heart I want to be an example for my kids and leave a legacy to be able to live in a better world

What do you need to change in your life?

Be more pro active
And have no expectation of any kind from others

Just follow some more principles

Keep the Best and let go of the rest

Spiritual Leadership

Master of Spiritual Leadership

Lesson 4 Eight Fold Path Part 3

Paradigm……..how I see the world

An example I am working on is the following idea

If I love someone really much and the other person loves me as much we have love and communication this kind of love will always be in fact forever

This became my high view my self center idea my paradigm of relationship

Because I didn’t take a closer look and just believe in this concept as a real and perfect one I got myself in a lot of pain

First I had to take a real look at the situation not the way I wanted to live it but the way it was …I open my eyes to some different ideas  :first…everything is moving in life nothing always stay the same everything is changing all the time some says if you don’t go forward you go backward …the stability doesn’t exist …even with love….
So even if I was thinking everything was great in this relationship I just forgot :the second concepts the other person…..
May be for her or for him it was not so perfect and even if nothing was mentioned sometime love is not enough and communication doesn’t always save a relationship

Looking at this angle everything change and my paradigm shift
I understood better the dynamism of the relationship
I can give 100% of myself if the other doesn’t believe anymore in what I still believe the relationship is broken and even with my 100% it will not make it works
This is the secret of a relationship if the two parts don’t work together in synergy nothing will happen the magic is not there anymore the mechanism is broken

To realize and live it in the same time is really painful

The solution to get over it to make the love for the other person even bigger than a relationship
Love is free and it is not expecting anything in return not even the love of another human being
So if I give more love and don’t expect anything I will be free from pain….The shift from love to LOVE is an extraordinary thing….
Keep the best and let go of the rest
Love… let go and… Let God
To let go of attachment anger control this is growing up
I need to go back to the big picture to understand better the situation and find a different right view and get over my selfish view
Love with big letters the real one with no attachment no expectation just free me completely
Understanding no judgment and respect of the other not just with words and mind but sincerely coming from the heart this is powerful

This is human nature to go back and for to doubt but after all only God is here forever for me and with me
He is the only one we can count on and not be disappointed

Christ was betray so many times and He kept smiling because I knew better
When He said before dying on the cross
“Father forgive them they don’t know what they are doing”
I can also do the same
When you decide to change your paradigm everything change in your life
You got wisdom peace and perfect Love

Thanks you for letting me know the truth for guiding my pen and discovering the essence of LOVE

My self center was driving by my own view of the situation by my paradigm
As soon …(it took me sometime to realize it) that I can change my paradigm but not the other person I took another disposition and a readiness to look at the situation differently ….everything change
When I decide to let go to see from the heart my mind followed
So clear so simple but not easy
When we decide to fight for the real thing for LOVE not just the human love everything change everything become clear

What would be your Baldur narrative concluded?

Like the phoenix …reborn from ashes
Need to have difficulty to understand better (we should be able to understand before the fall…)
                                    Keep growing
                                    Keep learning
                                    Better / Stronger
Use the best understanding for later and share with other your own experiences
                                    Story of life
                                    Circle of life
Always come back to the true situation

How would you be reborn after your own Ragarock

                     Liberate
                      Find my own true self
Reinforce the connection between God and my soul
Don’t let the mind only dictated your point of view or you heart go to sadness

Let them work together for a better understanding of the wisdom of life
